Suspension headband at 278 grams
The G733 is built around a suspension headband, an elasticated reversible strap slung under a rigid arch, plus dual-layer memory foam earpads, and at 278g it is genuinely light for a wireless headset. Tom's Hardware, which scored it 3.5 out of 5, rated the comfort highly, and the fit is the strongest part of the design over a long session. The compromise is in the frame. The ear cups rotate in one direction only, so the headset will not lie flat around the neck, and the strap adjusts in fairly coarse steps. The plastic construction is sturdy enough, and obviously plastic.
40mm PRO-G drivers with DTS Headphone:X 2.0
Sound comes from 40mm PRO-G drivers, with DTS Headphone:X 2.0 virtual surround available through Logitech's software. Tom's Hardware described the output as balanced, with the clarity through the mids that keeps footsteps and reload cues legible, and that is a fair description of the tuning: precise rather than exciting. Bass is the shortfall. There is enough of it for game effects but not the weight a closed-back music headphone delivers, and no amount of virtual surround compensates. SoundGuys scored the headset 7.4 out of 10, which puts it mid-pack rather than at the front of the wireless field.
A Blue VO!CE mic that underdelivers
The detachable boom mic carries Logitech's Blue VO!CE processing and it is the weakest part of the headset. Tom's Hardware called the microphone subpar, and the recurring complaint is one the processing itself creates: noise suppression that thins and over-processes the voice, so you come through clean but synthetic. The presets are adjustable, but adjusting them means running G HUB on a PC, which is no help if the headset is plugged into a console. For party chat it is perfectly serviceable. For streaming or recording, budget for a separate microphone and treat the boom as a backup.
LIGHTSPEED wireless and 29 hours of battery
Wireless runs over Logitech's LIGHTSPEED dongle rather than Bluetooth, with a quoted range of 20m and battery life of up to 29 hours. The connection is plug-and-play and low-latency at desk distances. Two things follow from that design choice. There is no Bluetooth, so there is no second connection for a phone and nothing to pair with a device that cannot take the dongle. And on a console the dongle carries audio but not the software layer, so mic presets and lighting stay wherever a PC last set them. Battery life remains the strongest number on the spec sheet.
LIGHTSYNC lighting and the G HUB requirement
The front-facing dual-zone LIGHTSYNC RGB is the headset's signature and the reason to pick this over a plainer rival: the lighting faces outward, toward a camera, which is aimed squarely at streamers. It covers the usual 16.8 million colours and syncs with other Logitech gear through G HUB. Everything interesting is in that software, though, so the headset is meaningfully less capable without a PC behind it, and running the lighting is not free against the battery figure. At around $119.99 it sits in the middle of the wireless field, and its review scores sit there with it.
