The Cobra RAD 700i is the top model in Cobra's budget RAD family and the first of them to use the digital signal processing found in sister brand Escort's detectors. It has no directional alert arrows and a bare-bones settings menu.

False-alert filtering
It uses digital signal processing borrowed from Escort's MAX detectors. Two further filters target the radar-based driver-assistance systems of other vehicles and K-band traffic-flow sensors.
Detection range and sensitivity modes
The detector has four sensitivity modes: High with no filtering, Medium, Low with maximum filtering for city driving, and Auto, which adjusts to vehicle speed.
It alerts to X, K and Ka radar, laser, and MultaRadar CD and CT. Unlike Escort's premium models, it does not detect Mesta Fusion.
GPS lockouts and the Drive Smarter app
AutoLearn stores a fixed-location false alert after the detector meets the same frequency in the same place about three times, and unlocks it again if the signal disappears. Pressing Mute three times locks a location out manually, and a separate button marks spots such as red light cameras.
Paired over Bluetooth with the Drive Smarter app, the detector shows the current speed limit and receives alerts shared by other users; the app also runs on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
What the price leaves out
Automoblog gives the retail price as $250, the ceiling of Cobra's RAD family, against $400 for the cheapest Escort MAX model. There are no directional alert arrows to show where a signal is coming from.
The box holds a 12V power cord, a suction cup windshield mount and a quick start guide, with no carrying case.
