The Cobra RAD 700i is the top model in Cobra's budget RAD family and the first of them to use the digital signal processing found in sister brand Escort's detectors. It has no directional alert arrows and a bare-bones settings menu.

The Uniden R8 moves well past the R7 thanks to a dual LNA design that adds roughly 4dB of sensitivity and up to 60% more detection range. Reviewers rated its performance on both K and Ka band highly and found it responds quickly even with filters enabled. Its progressive signal ramp-up tells you more than competitors like the Redline 360c. The redesigned front panel puts the mute button where you'll need to adjust the mount, and it blocks rear laser visibility, which reviewers call practically irrelevant. The R8w variant adds WiFi for automatic updates at $50 more.
