Verdict Research

Which brands do reviewers rate highest? We ranked 28 of them.

By Mike Hunter · June 16, 2026 · Methodology at the bottom

We aggregate professional review scores across thousands of products, so we grouped every product that earned a spot on one of our category shortlists by its maker and asked a simple question: whose gear actually reviews best? Across 28 brands with six or more shortlisted products, the average review score runs from 4.56 down to 4.10 on a 5-point scale — a near-half-point spread, even among products that were all good enough to make the cut.

What this means if you're buying

Brand is a weak signal, but not a worthless one: among products good enough to shortlist, the strongest brands still average about half a point higher than the weakest. The smarter move is always to check the specific product's aggregated score rather than trust the logo — see the category rankings. And see our companion studies on whether price predicts quality and how differently outlets grade.

Methodology & data

From Verdict's database as of June 2026. Each product is assigned to a brand from its name; we average the aggregated review score (normalized to a 5-point scale) of every product per brand. An important caveat: we only track products that earned a place on a category shortlist, so this is a relative ranking among already well-reviewed products — not a verdict on a brand's entire catalogue. Only brands with six or more shortlisted products are included (28 brands). Full ranking methodology: Verdict methodology. Want the underlying numbers? Get in touch.
