Tom's Guide tested a queen for about a month and rated it 4.5 out of 5, praising pressure relief for side and back sleeping and reporting that its testers never felt hot on it. Sleepopolis scored it 3.9 out of 5 and does not recommend it for hot sleepers, because it has no cooling features beyond the gel foam and the pillow top may trap heat. A 1.5-inch pillow top over 2.5 inches of gel foam
Tom's Guide describes two separate layers: a 1.5-inch pillow top with a 300-thread-count cover and 400gsm down-alternative fill, and a 2.5-inch slab of gel-infused, CertiPUR-US certified memory foam. The pillow top has an 18-inch elastic skirt and the topper adds four corner straps to anchor it to the mattress.
The pillow-top layer is machine washable once the foam is removed, which both Tom's Guide and Sleepopolis count in its favor. Tom's Guide notes the foam needs 24 hours to expand, and that a slight odor on unrolling faded quickly.
Pressure relief for side and back sleepers
Tom's Guide tested a queen for about a month and calls the feel medium-soft. Its main tester, who normally prefers medium-firm, reported enough sink at the shoulders when side sleeping without her hips dropping, enough lower-torso support on her back, and no soreness or back and shoulder pain.
Sleepopolis read the feel differently, as medium-firm with a sense of lying on top of the bed rather than in it, and on a firm mattress its reviewer felt pressure build at the shoulders. Both outlets agree it is too soft for stomach sleepers; Sleepopolis warns their hips will sink.
Cooling: two reviewers, two answers
This is the weak point for a cooling page. Tom's Guide states the topper has no active cooling properties, yet its testers never felt hot on it, even in a room at 70F to 75F, and it lists good temperature regulation among its reasons to buy. It adds that its main tester does not run especially hot.
Sleepopolis is blunter: the gel foam traps less heat than traditional memory foam, but there are no perforations or other cooling features, its reviewer felt the pillow top may trap some heat, and it says the topper is not a great option for hot sleepers.
Slippage, motion and the fine print
Tom's Guide's biggest complaint is that the two-part design drifts: after a few days the topper began leaning toward the side of the bed its tester got in and out of, and it needed readjusting every week or so. In its motion test, with a 5lb dumbbell dropped near an empty wine glass, it found the topper reduced motion transfer a great deal on a mattress with almost no motion isolation of its own.
Tom's Guide reports a 90-day trial and a 5-year warranty. Sleepopolis lists a 60-night trial alongside the same 5-year warranty.
