The SoftPro Chlorine+ & Fluoride Filter is a tank-based whole-house system that pairs catalytic carbon with bone char carbon, rated for 14 GPM and 1,000,000 gallons of media life. Water Filter Guru installed it in a Colorado home, lab-tested the water before and after, and gave it an overall score of 9.13, reporting that it eliminated fluoride, chlorine, disinfection byproducts and a PFAS compound while leaving water pressure unchanged. The same review marks it down for having no performance or materials-safety certification, a demanding installation and a returns policy with a 25% restocking fee. It suits city-water homes that specifically want fluoride removed with almost no ongoing maintenance; buyers who want certified performance claims or an easy DIY fit should look elsewhere.

Removed fluoride, chlorine and THMs in lab testing
Water Filter Guru sent before-and-after samples to a SimpleLab Tap Score lab, taking the second sample after six weeks of use. The system eliminated fluoride, chloroform and total trihalomethanes, removed zinc, aluminium and nickel, and cut copper by 97%; a separate Cyclopure test showed the PFAS compound MeFBSA eliminated as well. A chlorine test strip found 1 PPM before filtration and none after. Fluoride was the reason the publication tested the unit, and it credits the bone char media for a result the SpringWell CF it had tested could not match. The review is candid about the gaps: barium was not reduced, so SoftPro's claim to remove 99% of heavy metals did not hold in its water.
Full flow and almost no maintenance
Flow was the system's strongest category. Water Filter Guru measured no change in flow rate or water pressure after installation and gave it a perfect score there, noting the 14 GPM peak rating should suit homes with up to six bathrooms. The upflow tank design, intended to increase contact time between water and media, had no negative effect it could detect. Maintenance scored nearly as well: there are no cartridges, and the media is rated for up to 1 million gallons or six to ten years depending on water quality and usage. The publication calls servicing essentially non-existent, though it warns that emptying old media from the tank will probably need a second pair of hands.
Uncertified, harder to fit and costly to return
Water Filter Guru's reservations are about paperwork and logistics rather than performance. The system is not certified to reduce any contaminants or for materials safety, which the reviewer considers especially important on an expensive whole-home unit. Installation at the point of entry took just under two hours for an experienced DIYer, who needed his own tools and bought copper pipe, connectors and grounding wire that were not included; SoftPro's manual recommends a professional. There is no sediment pre-filter, so well users may need to add one. Returns are possible within six months, but the refund loses the original shipping cost and a 25% restocking fee, while the control valve and tank carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Strengths
- +Removed fluoride completely in lab testing, thanks to its bone char media
- +Took chlorine to undetectable levels and eliminated a PFAS compound in testing
- +14 GPM peak flow with no loss of water pressure after installation
- +Tank media rated for up to 1 million gallons or 6–10 years, with no cartridges
Watch-outs
- −Not certified for any contaminant reduction claims
- −Point-of-entry install is difficult and may need a plumber
- −Returns lose the shipping cost plus a 25% restocking fee
How it compares
Unlike the cartridge-based iSpring WGB32B and Express Water WH300SC, the SoftPro uses a single media tank with no cartridges to replace. Water Filter Guru contrasts its 14 GPM base-model flow with the 9 GPM of SpringWell's CF1 base model, and notes that the SpringWell CF it tested did not remove fluoride.
