The verdict

Pressure cooking meets smart technology in the Instant Pot Pro Plus Wi-Fi Smart 10-in-1 6 Quart Pressure Cooker. TechRadar praised the Wi-Fi connectivity and app control capabilities, and Tom's Guide noted the 6-quart capacity and 10-in-1 functionality. Reviewers also flagged the premium price and occasional app connectivity issues. Tech-savvy home cooks who want convenience are the fit; budget-conscious buyers will find it overpriced next to standard models.

Wi-Fi and an app with 1,900 recipes

The Pro Plus is the Wi-Fi model of the Instant Pot line, and the app is what the premium buys. It carries around 1,900 recipes, pushes guided programmes to the cooker, reports progress while you are elsewhere in the house, and answers to Alexa and Google Assistant. TechRadar scored it 4.5 out of 5, the highest mark on its record. Tom's Guide landed at 4 out of 5 and treated the connectivity as the genuine upgrade over the non-smart models.

1,000 watts under a 6-quart stainless pot

Underneath the connectivity this is a conventional 6-quart pressure cooker with a 1000W element and a stainless steel inner pot. That capacity suits a family of four to six and is more than most couples need. The LCD is clear enough to read across a kitchen, and the stainless pot and steam rack both go in the dishwasher, which is the design decision that makes the most difference day to day.

Ten functions, and the ones that matter

The ten-in-one billing covers pressure cooking, slow cooking, rice, steaming, sauteing, yoghurt, sous vide and warming, alongside more than ten separate safety interlocks. Pressure cooking is what it does best and what most owners will use it for. Sous vide and yoghurt work but want attention to time and temperature in a way the presets do not fully hide, and the slow-cook mode remains a weak imitation of a dedicated appliance.

The app is the part that goes wrong

The app is also where the complaints concentrate. PCMag rated the cooker 3.5 out of 5 and Digital Trends 7 out of 10, both lower than the rest, and the pattern behind those numbers is connectivity that drops, recipe screens that load slowly, and pairing that has to be repeated more often than it should. None of it stops the cooker working, since every function is available from the panel, but a smart appliance whose smart half is unreliable is a hard thing to justify at this price.

$229.95 against the Duo Plus

$229.95 is a real premium over the non-connected models, and whether it is worth paying comes down to how much the app gets used. Cooks who genuinely want to start dinner from another room, or who lean on guided recipes, get something the cheaper Instant Pots cannot do. Cooks who will press the buttons on the lid are buying a 6-quart pressure cooker at a smart-appliance price, and the Duo Plus does that job for less.

Strengths

  • +Wi-Fi connectivity allows remote monitoring and control via smartphone app
  • +6-quart capacity is suitable for families and meal prep
  • +10-in-1 functionality consolidates multiple kitchen appliances into one device

Watch-outs

  • −Higher price point compared to non-smart models

How it compares

The Pro Plus leads in smart connectivity with Wi-Fi and app control, a feature absent in the Duo Plus and RIO Wide models. While it offers programmable settings and automatic shut-off, its app reliability issues make it less ideal for users who depend on consistent smartphone control compared to the more straightforward RIO Wide.

Instant Pot RIO Wide 7.5 qt 7-in-1 Electric Multi-Cooker
#1 · Top Pick

Instant Pot RIO Wide 7.5 qt 7-in-1 Electric Multi-Cooker

The RIO Wide excels with its wider pot that accommodates standard kitchen pans, a feature not available in the Vortex Plus or Duo Plus. Unlike the Pro Plus, it doesn't offer Wi-Fi connectivity, but it provides better sautéing surface area and faster cooking times than the standard 10-in-1 model. However, it's bulkier than the Vortex Plus and lacks the air frying function that makes the Vortex Plus more versatile for users wanting multiple cooking methods.

Instant Pot 10-in-1 Pressure Cooker
#2

Instant Pot 10-in-1 Pressure Cooker

The standard 10-in-1 model offers the most cooking programs and fastest cooking times compared to the Vortex Plus and RIO Wide, but lacks the smart features of the Pro Plus and the air frying capability of the Vortex Plus. It's more affordable than the Pro Plus but heavier than the Duo Plus and RIO Wide. While it provides 28 smart programs, it doesn't match the RIO's wider cooking surface or the Vortex Plus's specialized functions, making it a solid choice for those who want maximum functionality without extra features.

Instant Pot Vortex Plus 4QT Air Fryer
#3

Instant Pot Vortex Plus 4QT Air Fryer

The Vortex Plus offers the only air frying capability among all models, making it unique compared to the Duo Plus, Pro Plus, and RIO Wide. While it's more expensive than the standard 10-in-1 and has a longer preheat time, it provides six preset functions in a 4-quart air fryer basket. Unlike the Pro Plus, it lacks Wi-Fi features but compensates with more versatile cooking options, making it ideal for users wanting a multi-functional appliance with air frying.
