The verdict

Best Choice Products' canopy recliner is a Textilene mesh zero-gravity chair with a flip-over sunshade, removable headrest and clip-on tray. The Spruce made it its best overall pick after a tester used one at home for hundreds of hours over two years, and OutdoorGearLab scored it 67 of 100: among the most comfortable chairs it tested and tough after a summer outdoors at 9,000 feet, but heavy and bulky to carry. Its 250-pound weight limit is lower than most.

Two tested verdicts

The Spruce's zero-gravity guide names this chair its best overall pick for comfort and durability; its tester uses it at home and has sat in it for hundreds of hours over the past two years. OutdoorGearLab tested it among 22 camping chairs and gave it a 67 of 100 overall: 9 of 10 for comfort, 3 for portability, 7 for durability and 6 for setup and extra features.

Comfort and shade

OutdoorGearLab calls it among the most comfortable chairs it tested, comfortable whether seated with the feet on the footrest or fully reclined, and notes that the bungee cords and stretchy fabric give enough to spread out body weight. The Spruce's tester props a lap desk across the armrests to work outside and stays comfortable for hours.

Both outlets like the adjustable sunshade. The Spruce says it is fairly small and will not replace an umbrella, but shades the eyes and face when positioned right.

Durability

OutdoorGearLab's unit spent most of a summer at 9,000 feet at a search-and-rescue site, exposed to campfire sparks, sun and rain, without showing wear or rust in the frame, and several people piled on it past the weight limit without damage. The Spruce reports its Textilene does not fade in the sun and did not rust after three months outside, though rain once got into the metal frame and caused a bit of rust.

What to weigh

The 250-pound limit is lower than other chairs both outlets tested. OutdoorGearLab calls it one of the largest and heaviest chairs in its test and would not recommend it to anyone wanting a compact, portable chair, though it folds flat enough for a compact car. It also found the accessory tray does not lock into place, and the chair sometimes unfolded into the reclining position more easily than the seated one.
