Ranked #2 in Best Range Hoods

Hauslane UC-PS18 30 Inch Under Cabinet Range Hood

4.0

1 sourceall derived$499.99as of Oct 12

The Hauslane UC-PS18 is a 30-inch ducted under-cabinet hood with two motors, six fan speeds, a touch panel and dishwasher-safe baffle filters. In video reviews, Jay Rules bought one for his own kitchen, tested it with boiling water, wok smoke and a styrofoam plate, and found the suction short of the advertised figure until, two years later, he discovered the installers had left the duct connection unsealed. With that fixed he gave it a thumbs up. He still wanted a stop button and a second light level.

Strengths

— After the duct connection was fixed it held styrofoam plates against the filters even on speed one, per Jay Rules
— Pulled steam from a boiling pot on the lowest speed in Jay Rules' test
— Two baffle filters lift out and go in the dishwasher, per Jay Rules

Watch-outs

— Frying smoke escaped past the hood on the top speed until an installation fault at the duct was corrected two years later, per Jay Rules
— No stop button: the fan has to be powered off each time, per Jay Rules
— The light is on or off only, with no dimmer, per Jay Rules

IKTCH IKP02-30 30 Inch Wall Mount Range Hood

4.5

1 sourceall derived$419as of Oct 15

The IKTCH IKP02-30 is a 30-inch stainless steel wall-mount chimney hood listed at 900 CFM with four speeds, touch controls and a gesture sensor. In a short video update after more than a year of ownership, Lauren's Daily Edit said the household is so happy with it and highly recommends it, singling out the lever-release filters that come clean in the dishwasher and the wave-to-operate panel. Her update does not cover noise or how well it clears smoke, so the evidence here is thinner than for the other hoods on this page.

Strengths

— Still recommended after more than a year of use, per Lauren's Daily Edit
— One lever releases both filters, and they come clean in the dishwasher, per Lauren's Daily Edit
— Waving a hand changes fan speed and turns on the lights, so no fingerprints from wet hands, per Lauren's Daily Edit

Watch-outs

— 45 pounds per the listing, a heavy lift onto a wall
