Beatbot Sora 70 Robotic Pool Cleaner
Ranked #3 in Best Robotic Pool Cleaners
Beatbot Sora 70 Robotic Pool Cleaner
2 sources$1,199as of Oct 16

The Beatbot Sora 70 cleans the floor, walls, waterline and water surface in one cordless robot, then floats to the pool edge to be collected. Bob Vila rated it 4.5 out of 5 after a month in a Florida pool and PCMag rated it 4.0 (Excellent) after half a summer of testing. PCMag saw some missed spots, and Bob Vila notes it does not skim continuously like a dedicated solar skimmer.

Strengths
  • — Cleans the surface, walls, waterline and floor in one cycle, per Bob Vila and PCMag
  • — Parks itself at the pool edge when finished, so it does not have to be fished out of the deep end
  • — Large, easy-to-empty debris basket with fine mesh filters, per Bob Vila
Watch-outs
  • — PCMag saw some missed spots in testing
  • — App navigation only works when the robot is out of the water, per PCMag
  • — It does not skim continuously, so it does not replace a 24/7 solar skimmer, per Bob Vila
Dreame Z1 Pro Robotic Pool Cleaner
Ranked #1 in Best Robotic Pool Cleaners
Dreame Z1 Pro Robotic Pool Cleaner
2 sources$569as of Oct 20

The Dreame Z1 Pro robotic pool cleaner pulls 8,000 GPH of suction and maps as it goes, and PCMag gave it an 'Editors' Choice' among cordless models. PCWorld's Christopher Null found erratic performance and extremely slow operation that keep it from being perfect. It has a magnetic charging system, visual app mapping, and an underwater remote, though reviewers criticized the slow speed and the awkward remote control. Buyers who value smart features over speed are the fit; anyone who wants faster cleaning should look elsewhere.

Strengths
  • — Powerful 8,000 GPH suction for effective cleaning
  • — Visual pool mapping via mobile app
  • — Magnetic charging system with microfiber cloth for cleaning contacts
Watch-outs
  • — Very slow operation despite powerful suction
  • — Remote control is awkward, slow, and difficult to use
  • — Required major firmware update to clean effectively

How they stack up

Beatbot Sora 70 Robotic Pool Cleaner

Unlike the Dreame Z1 Pro, the Sora 70 skims the water surface; PCMag found the Dreame has stronger suction and can be steered underwater, which the Sora 70 cannot. At $1,199 it costs less than the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra ($2,299) and Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max ($1,700) listed on this page.

Dreame Z1 Pro Robotic Pool Cleaner

The Dreame Z1 Pro Robotic Pool Cleaner is rated at 8,000 GPH of suction, close to the 8500 GPH of the Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max, and costs less than the Aiper. Its 3-hour runtime compares with 5 hours of floor cleaning for the Aiper and a 2-hour cycle for the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus Wi-Fi. It works very slowly, and its remote control is awkward to use.
