The short answer

Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym Doorway Pull Up Bar Elite is the only one of the two with a published score (4.6); Pullup & Dip Doorway Pull-Up Bar has none, so this is not a close call so much as an unmeasured one. Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym Doorway Pull Up Bar Elite is best for: people who mainly want stable pull-ups without marking their door frame. Read the strengths below before deciding.

The Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym Elite is an over-the-door pull-up bar rated to 300 lb, with padded neutral, wide and chin-up grips and rubber door bumpers; it also flips to the floor for push-ups, dips and sit-ups. GamerBody, after 30 days, called it the most stable doorway bar it had used and found the bumpers left no marks on the frame, and Chris Pinedo of Lean With Style likewise found it sturdy for pull-ups and kind to the door. Both found it weaker as a floor station: Pinedo said dips have very little range of motion, and GamerBody uses it only for pull-ups. It suits people who mainly want steady pull-ups on a door they care about; anyone wanting a real dip station should look elsewhere.

Strengths
  • — GamerBody called it the most stable doorway bar it has used, even at 185 lb
  • — Door bumpers left no marks or dents in either reviewer's door frame
  • — Standard grips sit nine inches out from the wall, so hands clear the frame
Watch-outs
  • — Dips on the floor have very little range of motion
  • — At about 8 lb it is bulky to put up and take down often
  • — Sit-up mode slipped on a hardwood floor in Chris Pinedo's test

Pullup & Dip Doorway Pull-Up Bar
Unrated3 sources$99.9as of Oct 17

The Pullup & Dip Doorway Pull-Up Bar does the most of any option here and rates the highest, a no-screw bar with multiple grip positions and three height settings that also flips onto the floor as a dip and push-up station. It carries a 1,000-pound static rating, ships with a resistance band, eBook, and a sling-trainer eyelet, and earns praise as a multifunctional, secure choice. The trade-offs are a higher price, a 9-pound bulk, and some wobble near the top of its capacity.

Strengths
  • — Multifunctional: pull-up bar plus floor dip and push-up station
  • — Three height positions and multiple grip options
  • — High 1,000 lb static rating
Watch-outs
  • — Can wobble at weights close to the rated capacity
  • — Rubber ends may mark the door frame

How they stack up

Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym Doorway Pull Up Bar Elite

Like the Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar and the Pullup & Dip Doorway Pull-Up Bar, it hangs over the door without drilling and also works on the floor, but both of its reviewers rated its dips as weak. Its door-width range of 29 to 39 inches and padded neutral, wide and chin-up grips make it an alternative to the ProsourceFit Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar for buyers who care more about stability and door protection than grip count.

Pullup & Dip Doorway Pull-Up Bar

The most versatile pick, a bar that doubles as a dedicated floor dip station and the highest-rated at a claimed 1,000 lbs, versus the 300 lbs of the Iron Gym Total Upper Body and 220-300 lbs of the ProsourceFit Multi-Grip. It costs more and is bulkier than those and the Ally Peaks.
