The Greenworks 60V 17-inch is a battery push mower with a 17-inch deck, a 4.0Ah battery and a bag-or-mulch setup, with no self-propulsion. TechGearLab found it cut evenly, ran about 40 minutes on the supplied battery and was light enough to steer one-handed around beds and up steep banks, though it was one of the louder battery mowers in its group and can bog down in really thick grass. Todd's Garage found it had enough power for a badly overgrown back yard but stalled a few times when pushed too fast, and the battery ran out before the front yard was done. It suits owners of small to average lawns with lots of obstacles; anyone with a bigger plot, or no spare 60V battery, should look at a wider or self-propelled model.

Strengths
  • — Light enough to steer one-handed around obstacles and up steep banks, per TechGearLab
  • — 4.0Ah battery ran about 40 minutes, roughly a quarter acre, in TechGearLab's test
  • — Cuts evenly and handled thick, overgrown grass in both reviews
Watch-outs
  • — Can bog down or stall when pushed quickly through very thick grass
  • — One charge did not finish Todd's Garage's front and back yards in long grass
  • — One of the louder battery mowers TechGearLab measured, though quieter than gas

The Greenworks 80V 21-inch push mower (GLM801602) is the high-voltage value pick, sold with battery and charger. An 80V brushless motor and up to 60 minutes of runtime give it strong power and endurance for a push mower. You get 3-in-1 rather than a dedicated leaf mode, and push-only operation. On power per dollar, nothing here beats it.

Strengths
  • — Up to 60 minutes of runtime on the included 4.0Ah battery
  • — Strong value, with battery and charger included
  • — 21-inch steel deck with one-touch start and single-lever height adjustment
Watch-outs
  • — 3-in-1 functionality (no dedicated leaf mode like the 60V)
  • — Push-only; no self-propulsion at this price

How they stack up

Greenworks 60V 17" Brushless Cordless Push Lawn Mower (4.0Ah)

Its 17-inch deck is narrower than the 21-inch decks on the Greenworks 60V 21-Inch and 80V 21-Inch push mowers, trading cutting width for a lighter, more manoeuvrable machine. It shares the Greenworks 60V battery platform with the 60V 21-Inch model, and unlike the Greenworks MO48L4422 48V Self-Propelled it has no drive assist, so every slope is pushed by hand.

Greenworks 80V 21-Inch Push Mower

The highest-voltage push mower here, with more headroom than the Greenworks 60V 21-inch push and runtime that rivals it, at a similar low price. It is push-only like the EGO LM2114 (which has the premium Gator blade and ecosystem edge), and for self-propulsion the Greenworks MO48L4422 is the pick.
