Goodr OG
Ranked #3 in Best Sunglasses For Running
Goodr OG
1 source$24as of Oct 7

The Goodr OG sunglasses deliver a secure fit during high-impact activities like running and cycling, thanks to lightweight co-polyester frames and a special grip coating that prevents slippage even when sweating. The polarized lenses reduce glare from reflective surfaces while providing UV400 protection, though the classic wayfarer silhouette allows some peripheral daylight to enter compared to fully wrapped sport eyewear. A significant drawback is that the reflective lenses are prone to scratching easily, and because replacement lenses are not available for purchase, users must discard the entire pair if the optics become damaged. The product fits runners and casual wearers seeking affordable, colorful eyewear with a fun aesthetic, but those requiring maximum peripheral light blockage or modular lens repair should look elsewhere.

Strengths
  • — Lightweight co-polyester plastic frame provides a snug fit that stays secure during high-impact activities like running and cycling.
  • — Polarized lenses offer UV400 protection to block UVA/UVB rays while reducing glare from reflective surfaces.
  • — Special grip coating on the nosepiece and temples prevents slippage even when the wearer is sweating heavily.
Watch-outs
  • — Reflective lenses are prone to scratching easily from minor contact with objects or surfaces.
  • — Replacement lenses are not available for purchase, requiring the user to replace the entire pair if lenses become damaged.
  • — Wayfarer-style frame design allows some peripheral daylight to enter compared to fully wraparound sport sunglasses.

Julbo Ultimate Reactiv

The Julbo Ultimate is a wraparound sport sunglass with a single panoramic Trivex lens, available with Julbo's REACTIV photochromic lenses. Engearment wore the REACTIV 1-3 high contrast version Nordic skiing and mountain biking and made it its new go-to for changing light: the lens adapts very rapidly across a 13% to 72% light transmission range, and the moldable CustomFIT temples and shapeable 3D nose pads give a snug fit it barely felt. It is the most expensive pair on this page.

Strengths
  • — REACTIV photochromic lens adapts very rapidly to changing light, per Engearment
  • — Wide light transmission range, 13% to 72%, per Engearment
  • — Pliable CustomFIT temples hold the shape they are molded to, and Engearment got no hot spots or headaches over hours of exercise
Watch-outs
  • — Engearment could sense the outside and bottom edges of the lens in its peripheral vision

How they stack up

Goodr OG

Unlike the Julbo Ultimate Reactiv which uses Trivex for superior optical clarity, Goodr OG relies on co-polyester plastic frames that are lighter but less optically precise.

Julbo Ultimate Reactiv

The only photochromic lens on this page: the Goodr OG uses a fixed polarized lens. At $254.95 on Julbo's US store it costs more than the Ombraz Refugio ($195) and the SunGod Ultras Air ($205), and about ten times the $24 Goodr OG.
