The compromises are the ones inherent to the type — it is noisier than a belt, there is no battery backup, and that last point means Genie cannot sell it into California. The camera retracts and rotates a full 360 degrees, the 2,000-lumen LED ring is brighter than anything else here, and The Spruce's tester ran one for three months and singled out the light. The trade-offs are consistent across both reviews: the camera feed lags, recorded video is subscription-gated, and because this is a dealer product rather than a big-box one, it is harder to find and harder to price than the Chamberlain alternatives.
