Branch Duo Standing Desk

The Branch Duo is an electric sit-stand desk with a frameless, two-column base, a laminated MDF top and a control paddle with an OLED screen that can remind you to stand. Tom's Guide gave it an Editor's Choice, timing the move from sitting to standing height at just over seven seconds with no coffee spilled, and TechRadar called it high quality, easy to use and hard to beat for the money. Both reviewers flagged that it has only two height presets, and the drawer and cable organizer that make the most of its frameless design are paid extras. It suits people with a small room who want a simple, tidy standing desk at the lower end of this page's price range.

Strengths
  • — Frameless design leaves room under the top for an optional felt-lined drawer
  • — Control paddle with an OLED screen and built-in reminders to stand
  • — Moved from sitting to standing height in just over seven seconds in Tom's Guide's test
Watch-outs
  • — Only two height presets
  • — The control box gets in the way of the optional cable organizer
  • — TechRadar found Branch's cable organizer good but not as good as some alternatives
Vari Classic Electric Standing Desk
Ranked #4 in Best Standing Desks
Vari Classic Electric Standing Desk
1 source$663.2as of Nov 1

Tom's Guide found the Vari Classic Electric Standing Desk attractive, sturdy and one of the easiest desks to assemble, coming together with eight screws in about 15 minutes. Height travel from 25 to 50.5 inches was smooth and consistent, and the keypad stores four presets. The criticisms are fewer configuration options than other standing desks and a 200 lb capacity that is below the 350 lb of the Uplift V2 and Fully Jarvis.

Strengths
  • — Very easy to assemble: eight screws and about 15 minutes in Tom's Guide's testing
  • — Top more than an inch thick that Tom's Guide found more substantial than the other desks it tested
  • — Four programmable height presets with an LCD height readout
Watch-outs
  • — Supports 200 lb, less than the 350 lb Tom's Guide cites for the Uplift V2 and Fully Jarvis
  • — Fewer configuration options than other standing desks, per Tom's Guide

How they stack up

Branch Duo Standing Desk

At $549 for the 36 x 24-inch size, the Branch Duo is the least expensive desk on this page, below the Vari Classic Electric ($663), the Flexispot E7 Pro Plus ($800) and the Fully Jarvis Bamboo ($1,245). It is also the most compact option, and Tom's Guide found its assembly not quite as simple as the Vari's. Its frameless base makes room for an optional drawer between the legs, but it stores only two height presets.

Vari Classic Electric Standing Desk

The Vari Classic Electric Standing Desk took about 15 minutes to assemble in Tom's Guide's testing, half the time that reviewer needed for other standing desks. Its 200 lb capacity is below the 350 lb Tom's Guide cites for the Uplift V2 and the Fully Jarvis, making it less suitable for very heavy setups, and it offers fewer configuration options than those desks.
