Astro alan Baby Diaper Bag with Changing Station

3.5

1 sourceall derived$39.89as of Oct 4

According to the product listing, this 3.48-pound backpack offers a highly compartmentalized interior with 19 pockets and an insulated front section to keep bottles warm. The design includes a sturdy detachable changing station for on-the-go diaper changes, along with built-in stroller straps and an anti-theft back pocket for secure storage. However, YouTube reviewer TheBetterBuy found that the main front zipper pocket lacks waterproofing despite the rest of the bag being water-resistant polyester, which risks soaking personal items like keys or wallets. Additionally, while a USB port is present, it requires a separate power bank not included in the package. This bag fits parents who need extensive organization and versatility but may disappoint those requiring fully sealed front compartments for electronics.

Strengths

— Includes a detachable changing station and washable pad that converts the bag into a regular backpack after toddlerhood
— Features 19 pockets including an insulated aluminum foil-lined front pocket for bottles
— Constructed from lightweight, water-resistant polyester with a wipe-clean interior lining

Watch-outs

— USB charging port requires a separate power bank which is not included in the package

Skip Hop Forma Diaper Bag Backpack

4.5

3 sourcesall derived$63.99as of Oct 11

The Skip Hop Forma Diaper Bag Backpack prioritizes organization through two dedicated packing pods and a wide U-shaped main opening. The exterior includes spacious side pockets and faux leather zipper pulls designed for one-handed use, while the quilted polyester material resists stains easily. However, PeekAtParenting.wordpress noted that the depth of the packing pods significantly reduces usable space in the main compartment, which can make the bag feel cramped for larger loads. This model fits parents of a single child or those who prefer minimalist packing, but families with multiple children should look elsewhere due to the internal volume restrictions.

Strengths

— Includes two dedicated packing pods: one insulated for bottles/snacks and one for changing supplies, allowing organized access without rummaging.
— Features a wide U-shaped main opening that allows users to see inside the bag easily for quick item retrieval.

Watch-outs

— The included packing pods take up significant depth in the front pocket, which can restrict usable space in the main compartment for larger items.

How they stack up

Astro alan Baby Diaper Bag with Changing Station

Unlike the Skip Hop Forma, which weighs only 1.4 pounds, this Astro Alan bag is significantly heavier at 3.48 pounds but compensates with a detachable changing station that converts it into a regular backpack after toddlerhood—a feature absent in the lighter competitor. It also offers more pockets (19) than the Caraa Baby Bag's unspecified count, though the Caraa provides multiple carrying options including a shoulder strap, whereas this bag is limited to backpack straps.
