The short answer

Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym Doorway Pull Up Bar Elite is the only one of the two with a published score (4.6); Ally Peaks Pull-Up Bar has none, so this is not a close call so much as an unmeasured one. Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym Doorway Pull Up Bar Elite is best for: people who mainly want stable pull-ups without marking their door frame. Read the strengths below before deciding.

The Ally Peaks Pull-Up Bar is the adjustable-width specialist, using a multi-level bolt-set system to dial in a precise fit for both wide and narrow door frames from 28 to 36 inches. Built from 1.7mm thickened steel with a 330- to 500-pound capacity and three grip positions, it installs without drilling and locks in with self-locking nylon nuts so it never works loose. Reviewers praise the adjustability and stout build; the caveat is a bolt-based width change.

Strengths
  • — Multi-level width adjustment for a precise door-frame fit
  • — Three grip positions: narrow, wide, and neutral, per The Body Blueprint
  • — No-drill installation that hangs on the doorway
Watch-outs
  • — Width changes require installing bolts in different holes
  • — Heavier thickened-steel build than basic bars

The Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym Elite is an over-the-door pull-up bar rated to 300 lb, with padded neutral, wide and chin-up grips and rubber door bumpers; it also flips to the floor for push-ups, dips and sit-ups. GamerBody, after 30 days, called it the most stable doorway bar it had used and found the bumpers left no marks on the frame, and Chris Pinedo of Lean With Style likewise found it sturdy for pull-ups and kind to the door. Both found it weaker as a floor station: Pinedo said dips have very little range of motion, and GamerBody uses it only for pull-ups. It suits people who mainly want steady pull-ups on a door they care about; anyone wanting a real dip station should look elsewhere.

Strengths
  • — GamerBody called it the most stable doorway bar it has used, even at 185 lb
  • — Door bumpers left no marks or dents in either reviewer's door frame
  • — Standard grips sit nine inches out from the wall, so hands clear the frame
Watch-outs
  • — Dips on the floor have very little range of motion
  • — At about 8 lb it is bulky to put up and take down often
  • — Sit-up mode slipped on a hardwood floor in Chris Pinedo's test

How they stack up

Ally Peaks Pull-Up Bar

The adjustable-width specialist, with finer fit control than the fixed-width Iron Gym Total Upper Body and ProsourceFit Multi-Grip. Its weight rating sits above those two but below the higher claimed capacity of the Pullup & Dip, and unlike the Pullup & Dip it does not double as a floor dip station.

Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym Doorway Pull Up Bar Elite

Like the Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar and the Pullup & Dip Doorway Pull-Up Bar, it hangs over the door without drilling and also works on the floor, but both of its reviewers rated its dips as weak. Its door-width range of 29 to 39 inches and padded neutral, wide and chin-up grips make it an alternative to the ProsourceFit Multi-Grip Pull-Up Bar for buyers who care more about stability and door protection than grip count.
